Summary

Job Summary

Provides leadership and direction for areas of responsibility. Directly responsible for Surgical Services and Cardiac Cath Lab at OHRH and provides matrixed leadership to other system sites. Works collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure operational excellence and align with system strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements and objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and/or assists in prompt resolution of issues and complaints with focus on serving with excellence and being a best place to work.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
  • Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget. Approves and/or monitors expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
  • Appropriately plans and requests capital projects and equipment.
  • Ensures a high level of patient care is maintained in assigned areas of responsibility through coordination and management of personnel and resources.
  • Uses sound business and clinical management strategies to maintain and improve quality; ensures appropriate access; meets established financial goals; develops, implements, and communicates a service line plan, which is aligned with and supports system goals.
  • Remains current and leads the team to utilize best practices related to national trends, issues, regulations, and standards for assigned clinical areas.
  • Works autonomously within a stressful environment and appropriately escalates information as needed.
  • Ensures growth and innovation within area of expertise across the enterprise along with reducing waste, improving efficiency, and actively collaborating.
  • Leads the management and supervisor level team members in assigned departments.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience required.

Education

Master’s degree or higher in a healthcare related field required upon hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire.
