Nurse Extender - Licensed Practical Nurse - Medical Care

Job Summary

Provides patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization and within scope of practice.

Job Responsibilities

• Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for review
• Assists with admission process through data collection and room preparation
• Contributes to the plan of care; performs plan of care interventions
• Assist with discharges as delegated by primary nurse
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to primary nurse as indicated
• Assists with medication administration and observes patients for adverse reactions
• Performs intentional rounding to meet patient care needs, ensure patient safety, decrease the occurrence of patient preventable events, and proactively address problems before they occur
• Answers call lights and provides needed assistance to the patient
• Assists with bedside procedures (tube feedings, point of care testing, wound care, etc)
• Carries out additional duties as assigned (safety observation, intentional rounding, daily cares tasks, stocking, etc)
• Documents all care as provided

Qualifications

• High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
• No experience required
• LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse and eligible to practice in the state of Kentucky required upon hire
• BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 45 days of employment in this position
