Sterile Processing Assistant

Job Summary

Responsible for the proper care, cleaning, decontamination, and distribution of equipment/supplies to departments in hospital.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensures policies, procedures, and practices of sterile processing comply with standards established by all regulatory agencies.
• Utilizes software program to locate sterile equipment to be delivered to other departments throughout the organization.
• Responsible for the proper care, cleaning, and decontamination of multiple pieces of equipment following the manufacturer's instruction for use (IFU).
• Maintains urology carts and various code carts by restocking and removing outdated supplies.
• Answers telephone and provides customer service throughout the organization.
• Scans work productivity into the electronic tracking system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred
• No experience required
• No licensure/certification/registration required

• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Learning and applies knowledge at a basic level relying heavily on senior staff for troubleshooting.
