Summary
Job Summary
Performs administrative and basic duties necessary to assist oncology counselor(s) in providing psychosocial & mental health support services to cancer patients and families.
Job Responsibilities
- Learns the oncology counselor(s) processes & services provided and be able to answer patient questions pertaining to the processes & services.
- Learns the billing processes, completes insurance preauthorization requests, and be able to answer patient questions about billing & preauthorization processes.
- Performs necessary administrative duties-answer phone calls and assist patients in scheduling appointments.
- Uploads patient records to EPIC.
- Reviews upcoming patient schedules and assists with counseling preparation.
- Monitors and trends patient & productivity data to assist with reports for committees.
- Assists with planning of support groups & survivor events.
- Responsible for purchasing items to stock & maintain Resource Room.
- Assists with purchasing for events and submitting for paid outs and/or reimbursements.
- Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members about patient care.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Health Science Field required upon hire OR
- Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
- A minimum of 1 year relevant experience preferred
- No licensure/certification/registration required

- Works under minimal supervision and be self-directed.
- Must have experience with MS Office Suite.
