Summary

Job Summary

Responsible for collecting, abstracting, and reporting cancer incidence data in accordance with Kentucky Cancer Registry, ACoS/CoC, and National Cancer Database (NCDB) requirements.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Identifies and analyzes the history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status, and survival data of cancer patients and patients with other reportable disease processes as directed by Kentucky Cancer Registry and ACoS/CoC.
  • Prepares statistical reports on mortality rates, treatment effects, incidence rates of various diagnostic categories, and demographic variables.
  • Complies with all reporting requests and requirements.
  • Assists in meeting the American of College of Surgeons' criteria for reports, statistics, quality assurance audits, oncology conferences and Cancer Committee meetings.
  • Coordinates with physicians all aspects of the weekly tumor and oncology conferences as assigned.
  • Provides cancer data upon request by physicians, Cancer Committee, ancillary department, and other registries for the purpose of research, treatment, marketing, and follow up.
  • Serves as a required member of the Cancer Committee and Breast Program Leadership Committee.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
  • A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • No experience required
  • ODS - Oncology Data Specialist from National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) required within 48 months of employment in this position
